The heritage
Marchesi Antinori’s strong entrepreneurial spirit and passion for innovation led to their presence in Chile. Haras de Pirque estate was born with the quest to produce high quality organic wines and explore Chile’s vast winemaking potential while focusing on expressing the Maipo Valley’s extraordinary terroir.
Vineyards
The vineyards that surround the estate are bordered by a thoroughbred racetrack and the winery was built in the shape of a traditional horseshoe. The vineyards grow at an altitude of 550 to 650 meters (1,804-2,132 feet) above sea level, south of the Maipo River on the lower slopes of the Andes’ foothills. In the lower area, the soil is rich in clay while the upper area is rocky.
The cellar
The architecture of the winery is striking, designed in a unique horseshoe shape (“herradura” in Spanish) that pays homage to the estate’s origins as an impressive thoroughbred farm.
